Here are some facts about the cruelty that has been going on across the United States.

1. Across the United States, six to eight billion stray and abandoned animals enter animal shelters each year and about half must be euthanized.
2. Each year, 10,000 bulls die in bullfights.
3. Animals caught in traps can suffer for days before succumbing to exposure, shock, or attacks by predators.
4. About eighteen foxes are killed just to make one fox coat.

6. In many circuses, exotic animals are trained through the use of physical abuse. These animals are the whipped, poked with sharp objects, beaten, or even burned.
-Circus elephants are kept in chains for up to 23 hours a day.
if we do not try to make a difference,by 2022, all species will be extinct.

There are two types of animal cruelty- Passive or Active.

Passive means you do not physically hurt the dog, however, you omit to take action. Failing to feed the dog, or taking care of them when they are ill or injured.

Active means you physically hit or manipulate the animal.

I wanted to do a research paper on Animal Cruelty because it is a topic that never gets old, never gets boring. It keeps me interested and you learn new things all the time. Although animals don't look like humans or act like humans, they still have hearts. They feel just like we do and if  we believe we shouldn't be abused or beaten, then they shouldn't be either. This topic hit home because of one my dogs, Luna, was rescued from a terrible family that left her outside without food or water for days at a time. Like most animals, she is loyal, caring, sweet, and protective. I know if i am ever home alone i will be fine because shes here. Animals need love. They need us.

Essential Question: What are associations doing to help stop cruelty to animals?
