In the book, "For the Prevention of Cruelty: The History and Legacy of Animal Rights Activism In the United States," Diane L. Beers talks about different organizations in the past and the effort they tried to make against animal cruelty. For example, The ASPCA ( American Society for the prevention of Cruelty to Animals), still to this day works as a team to gather up all the beaten and tortured animals and gives them homes, love, care, and protection. They also strive to bring justice to those we do those types of crimes. They also ask for donations of only 60 cents and they provide you with a picture monthly of the pet you are helping and the progress that thanks to you, they are achieving. She also explains that there were certain acts such "The Marine Mammals Act" that helped save and protect mammals of the ocean and not only household pets. This act, established in 1972, prevents anyone from taking mammals from their environment and/ or marine mammal products.
Reflection: I think this is a very useful book because you can really pick and choose which organization or act you agree with or want to be a part of. The book has thorough explanations of each act and thorough descriptions of exactly what the organizations do and how they do it.

The book sounds beneficial in making animal cruelty aware, which is great. It is important for people to know of the violent harms animals go through. I think it is that the book explains different organizations because it allows society to donate to the cause of animal cruelty.
